‘Survivor: Free Radicals’ — Recapping Season 44
The 44th season of “Survivor” saw lively personalities amongst the competitors that usurped a host of new twists
In Survivor’s new era of post-pandemic storytelling, the cast of its forty-fourth season really delivered! Beginning in March, they elevated the game with a combination of camaraderie and craftiness. In keeping with my tradition, I’ll be “re-christening” each new season following its finale. I do this to give each season its own identity as a way of compensating for Production’s decision to discontinue subtitles for each season.
As the fourth post-Covid installment, Season 44 continued maintaining CBS’s Diversity Target — with great success. In my opinion, it outperformed Season 41 (Survivor: Elemental Monsters) and Season 43 (Survivor: Savage Life), but was slightly below Season 42 (Survivor: Jungle Wars) in quality.
Although a handful of Season 44’s castaways stole the show, Survivor did a pretty decent job of balancing everyone’s inclusion in the storytelling.
