5 Things You Probably Missed in Dune (2021)
Extra details I’ve noticed after re-watching the film.

Dune (2021) is such a deep and complex story that bringing it to the big screen is known to be an incredible challenge. Denis Villeneuve has done a masterful job of showing the audience much of the information that cannot simply be told in this vast universe. With such a tactic, there are sure to be things buried in the details that you may not have noticed in your first viewing. That was certainly true for me. It was not until I returned from the IMAX screening to re-examine my favorite sci-fi thriller on HBO Max that I uncovered these 5 extra tidbits.
1. Un-blooded Crysknife

Soon after the Atreides family arrives on Arrakis, Lady Jessica is presented with a lineup of potential housekeepers. She quickly singles out Shadout Mapes who appears to have a weapon hidden in her robe. She presents the crysknife to Jessica as a gift, assuming she passes the test deeming the prophecies about her and Paul true. Of course, Jessica passes the test and the knife is indeed passed on to her as a gift.
